Free Dental Care for Kids Under 18

Hillcrest and Tamahere Dental Centre are proud to be able to provide free, quality dental care to primary and high school students under the age of 18 in association with the Ministry of Health.
It is important for people of all ages to attend for regular check-ups to prevent dental decay and gum disease, and to be able to quickly and effectively provide the necessary treatment when required.
Most dental treatment is provided free under the scheme. Some treatments require prior approval from the Ministry of Health, and those that are not covered can be paid for privately if necessary. It is best to talk to your dentist to discuss what treatment you require.
We are available all year round with these services.
Children and Adolescents
Children in New Zealand who meet the eligibility criteria for publicly funded health and disability services are entitled to free basic oral health services from birth to 17 years of age (until their 18th birthday).
- Enrol your child as early as possible, so that you can arrange the free dental visits at your earliest convenience.
